Did the Rabbis who banned the book, actually read it?!?!? Most didn’t (don’t) read English!!!!!! That question was raised, but never answered. Anytime Judaism looks like fundamental Christianity, we really ought to step back and question our actions. The “ban” sure smacks of the intolerance of another religion. Burning and banning books?!?!? Causing such tzoris to the son of a gasoline?!?!?! G-d help us all.

What I didn't get clear from this episode was at what point is something Loshon Horah. If something is Loshon Horah then it shouldn't matter if it's an academic book or not as one guest wanted to differentiate. The Chofetz Chaim says that Loshon Horah of Rabbonim is very serious. Also, how we understand the Avos and how we relate to contemporary Gedolim are two separate issues.
